REAL SKI REPORT Version Two

So the real ski report today is about as out there as it can get. The snow has consolidated to about a three inch crust covering the trails very nicely. That said we are out on the skate skis skiing just about anywhere there is a patch of snow! Certainly it is not carefree skiing but it is skiing nonetheless. Every once and awhile though we hit areas that have either solid ice or just plain nothing so we have to be on our toes. I am actually saying that it is more akin to skate/mountain biking than skate skiing. You HAVE to have your skills way up to par because you will be in a situation where you could go down at anytime. With that in mind I have to say that skiing this way is so freaking fun. It truly challenges your ski skills, it is exciting and it also has just enough element of risk that I seek out in skiing anyway. I am recommending knee pads and a bike helmet as well.....

Hansi, can you comment on the different waxes used for red vs. white pine needles? ;-)
