Heck of the North

This year for my bday, September 1st, I asked Margaret if I could do the Heck of the North. So today, never mind that I have no bike for this venture, or little experience in riding long distance on gravel, or even training for that matter, I dropped in my entry. The entry was little more than a postcard, no fee with my name and address on it, plus what type of bike I will be riding (???) geared or not geared etc. So hey if anybody has a cross bike out there that fits a large dude, please let me know!

Brewer Park Singletrack

Used some of my new knowledge this morning at Brewers Park to help out Adam Sundberg and the COGGS guys. Time to pass on all this trail learning to the locals....

Brewers Park will link the Piedmont Trail System to Spirit Mountain and ultimately to Mission Creek, to Jay Cooke State Park and on and on....

Rouleur

I was surfing around the other day and ran into some great posts on Velominati. However what I really found was some great info on the magazine Rouleur. For years I have been waiting on a really good periodical that nails down some of the heritage, stoke and draw of cycling. Looking over this site and this magazine I really feel like this is the first one that really does a good job and in a non elitist way.
I especially liked this article by Andy Hampsten about the "Day the big Men cried" Gavia.

Future Fall goings on....GNOME FEST

I just received the comment that hard man and insane race nuts Charlie Farrow Tim Ek (no internet presence) are heading to the HPT trails in Lacrosse to beat themselves silly. My favorite trails and certainly a great place to get beat that is for sure. But me, I am thinking of more mellow events. Like Gnome Fest. I mean who cant get behind, mythical Norwegian dwarves, bikes, scantily clad ladies and beer?

UGHGH!! Attack of the Kettlebell snatches.....

Today we did 30 some sets of kettlebell snatches and I finally ripped my callus off. No doubt these workouts are killer for my riding but DUDE, they can really test your pain threshold.....
