Dancing on the bones of the beast

The keepers, rattling bones.

Cuyuna reveals its past

Chris B bending chainrings for fun.

Red dirt, the cause of the Cuyuna Tattoo...
Priorities....

Its stick season and there is no hiding the raw brutality of the terrain in North Eastern MN.   Everywhere you look you see the broken rock and skeletal remains of trees that have long since given up the ghost.   This is even more evident on the new trails at Cuyuna.  Mining ceased here in the 1960's, not so long ago, so during late fall you are able to see the remains of heavy industry and mass extraction.  Instead of finding it ugly however, I find it incredibly photographic and I become a really tough guy to ride with as I am constantly hauling out the camera and politely asking for another pass....
